Students: Free Plus Plan
$0
Full Plus plan, completely free, no time limit
Eligibility: Students and educators with a .edu email address. International students at accredited institutions also qualify through Notion's verification process.
What you get: Unlimited blocks, unlimited file uploads, 30-day page history, up to 100 guest collaborators, custom automations, and API access. Everything in the Plus plan.
AI access: 20 lifetime trial responses only. Student Plus does not include full AI. You would need Business ($20/user/mo) for ongoing AI access, which is not discounted.
Duration: No time limit. The plan remains free as long as your .edu email is valid. You can use it throughout your entire academic career.
How to apply: Go to notion.com/product/notion-for-education and sign up with your .edu email. Verification is automatic for most .edu domains. Some international domains require manual verification (1-2 business days).
Nonprofits: 50% Off
50% off
All team plans (Plus, Business, Enterprise)
Eligibility: Registered nonprofit organizations. In the US, this means 501(c)(3) status. International nonprofits must meet equivalent criteria in their jurisdiction.
Discounted pricing: Plus drops to $5/user/mo (annual) or $6/user/mo (monthly). Business drops to $10/user/mo (annual) or $12/user/mo (monthly). These are significant savings for organizations that often have tight budgets.
Verification: Through TechSoup, the standard nonprofit verification platform used by most SaaS companies. You need a TechSoup validation token.
How to apply: Register with TechSoup (techsoup.org), get your validation token, then apply through Notion's nonprofit program page. Processing takes 3-5 business days.
K-12 and Higher Education: 50% Off
Educational institutions (K-12 schools, universities, colleges) receive 50% off team plans for administrators and staff. This is separate from the student program, which gives individual students free Plus.
Eligibility: Accredited K-12 and higher education institutions. Contact Notion's sales team or apply through the education program page. Verification is through the institution's domain and TechSoup (for applicable organizations).
Startups: Up to $1,000 in Credits
$1,000
in Notion credits for eligible startups
Eligibility: Your startup must have fewer than 50 employees, less than $10 million in total funding, and be backed by an approved venture capital partner.
What you get: Up to $1,000 in credits that can be applied to any paid plan including Business (which includes AI). For a 10-person team on Business, this covers about 5 months of service.
VC partners: Notion partners with hundreds of VC firms. Y Combinator, Sequoia, a16z, and many others are approved. Check Notion's startup program page for the full partner list.
How to apply: Apply through Notion's website or through your VC's partnership portal. Approval is typically within a few business days.
